Here’s another Daily Gem coming your way…

So this week, what we’re going to be entering week two of our 30 Day Brand Challenge, where I’m challenging you to elevate your game with some serious focus on Branding.

Last week we talked about the difference between a brand-name and a company-name.

If you missed it, no worries, I designed the challenge so you can dive in at any point and still get tons of tips and tricks to take your brand to the next level.

Okay so let’s get to it, this week, we’re going to start to talk about “The Rules”.

You guys know i’m not just a pretty face, I’m a highly trained brand consultant, and my mentor taught me the Rules of Branding, and honestly, I can tell you, in the 10 years I’ve been doing this, I’ve found that Brands that follow the rules, always perform better than those that don’t…

Okay, today’s gem is Brand Rule #1: Brand Consistency.

This is probably the biggest rule everyone breaks in their brands. I see this all over the place “Generalization versus Specialization.”

The quickest way to failure is to try and be everything to everyone. That’s more more than a rule, that’s a law right there.

A brand is a brand because it stands for something. It means something in the mind of the customer.

Ask yourself, “What does my brand stand for?” or ‘What is my brand known for?”

Or like last week we talked about “What do people say about my brand behind my back?”

The question here is: What is your brand known for?

I do these brand audits, you guys know that.

It’s an entry point to working with me, and the first thing i try to figure out is: “What is this brand all about?”

That’s the first question…

If I can’t immediately tell what the company stands for, then I know they are doing it wrong.

This is why the first rule of branding is CONSISTENCY…

For a brand to be successful, you have to teach your customers what to expect, and then consistently exceed those expectations.

You set the expectations, and you deliver, over and over.

That’s called Brand Consistency.

That’s really the first step in brand development…
