I could have made a HUGE mistake a couple weeks back with a client but I happened to catch myself and wanted to share the story with you so that you don’t make the same mistake…

I’ve been working with this client for the past 4 months building her brand…

The experience was great…

She was a Branding on Demand member and she was loving the process!

The strategy calls were extremely valuable to her and the design of her brand just came out beautiful!

4 months of solid work was just about to come to a wrap and we were just about to launch and then something happened…

The brand experience started to take a hit…

I should have been watching over the job more closely but unfortunately a couple things flew by me without me noticing…

My fault completely…

Needless to say the client wasn’t happy when she found out that she was out of her alotted time for the project and it was going to take an additional 3­5 hours to complete the project which meant more money…

After reviewing the details of the project with my lead project manager I made an executive decision…

We were NOT going to charge the client ONE SINGLE PENNY additional for the additional hours needed to complete the project and we were going to finish this project out strong…

I specifically wrote to the client personally and stated…

“I would NEVER let a couple hundred dollars spoil 4 months of great work! Your happiness is more important to me than the money…”

The client was extremely happy with my decision and we continued on with the completion of the work…

The client wound up spending an additional $500 worth of design time over and above her additional investment to get some more work done, which we were honored and happy to do for her…

I project could have easily went south if I focused on the MONEY versus the EXPERIENCE…

No amount of money in my opinion is worth more than the brand experience that your client will receive when they work with you…

Think of it this way…

It’s like hospitality at its purest form…

Why do you think the Ritz Carlton is one of the BEST hotels in the world?

Because of the EXPERIENCE they give you the minute you walk through the front doors…

The same goes for your brand…

Listen we all make mistakes here there…

We’re HUMAN!

The key is what you do AFTER the mistake that matters most…

If you’re not providing a great brand experience, you’re going to lose and word is going to travel like wild fire…
